From the Chief...
Dear Residents and Visitors,
South Hero Volunteer Fire Department is committed to offering the highest possible level emergency response capability to the residents of South Hero and its visitors. Our members are trained and equipped to respond to fires, HAZMAT events and vehicle rescue. In addition we stand ready to perform ice, cold water and marine rescue.
Our all volunteer force works within the Grand Isle County Mutual Aid system which includes all emergency response agencies in the county. This cooperative effort begins at the planning level and is operationalized in joint training and mutual aid response to emergencies.
SHVFD strives to improve its ability to respond through ongoing training both in house and at other locations such as the National Fire Academy and regional fire schools throughout Vermont. We are continually reviewing our procedures and equipment to insure that we continue to sustain the trust we have earned from all of you.
The most important asset we have at SHVFD is our personnel. Without their effort and dedication there would be no fire department. We welcome anyone who has an interest in giving back to his or her community. Please feel free to come down any Wednesday night or click on the JOIN link if you have any interest at all. It is the best job you will never get paid for!
Lastly, if you have any questions, comments or concerns please contact me directly.
Sincerely,
Christopher Herrick, Chief
South Hero Volunteer Fire Department
